Caxton Legal Centre is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental, community-based organization. Caxton represents the interests of disadvantaged or low-income people when they come into contact with the law. Caxton serves people living in the Greater Brisbane area, but also nationally for some programs. The offices are located in South Brisbane, but services are provided using a range of methods and technologies, including telephone, personal appointments, email, videoconferencing, participation in courts/tribunals and various outreach venues (hospitals, prisons, elderly care, recreation centres, places of refuge) and home visits. Bail Support Program – Legal and social work helps men in remand at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre, Brisbane Correctional Centre and Woodford Correctional Centre apply for bail, access services once they have been released, and comply with bail conditions.

Labour Law Service (national) – Day and Wednesday night legal services for anyone earning less than $80,000 (now or at the time of dismissal). Appointment required. Domestic and Family Violence Duty Counsel and Social Work Services – Family lawyers and social work services are available 5 days a week at Brisbane Family Law Court. Domestic violence lawyers will be available to respondents at Brisbane Domestic Violence Magistrates` Court on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These services are intended for all persons who have a hearing before these courts. No appointment is necessary. Financial Protection Service – Community Worker provides information and recommendations on finances later in life, as well as community education services.
